PM Total Assess is a total assessment programme designed for organisations who want to develop a detailed understanding of where their staff are at in terms of both knowledge of project management terminology and concepts and their ability to demonstrate their competence against either the Australian National Competency Standards for Project Management (ANCSPM) or the Global Project Manager Standards from GAPPS.

For organisations looking towards offering formal accreditation in the form of RegPM, Australian Nationally Recognised Qualifications of GAPPS Endorsed Global Project Manager Certifications PM Total Assess offers a filtering mechanism for determining which candidates are ready to gather portfolios of evidence now, within 6-12 months or not at all within their current role.

The PM Total Assess builds on the web-based assessment used in the PM Rapid Assess Package by incorporating our structured face-to-face interview with a Workplace Assessor. The PM Total Assess programme has tailoring options which allow organisations to develop customised assessment add-ons based on their own internal PM Methodologies as well as incorporate soft skills evaluation, personality profiles and future capability assessments. PM Total Assess can be used as a "once off" or as part of an ongoing assessment and development programme within the organisation.

PM Total Assess is a two part assessment.

Web-Based Assessment

The web-based assessment covers two areas:

  1. Knowledge Assessment
    Consisting of a set of randomly generated multiple choice questions that assess knowledge of accepted Project Management terminology and concepts - based on the PMBoK® Guide or the APMBoK (or customized Prince2 or your internal PM methodology).
  2. Skills Assessment
    The skills assessment is an assessment of the use of Project Management practices. There are two standards by which PPG can assess competence, the GAPPS Global Project Manager Standard and the Australian National Competency Standards for Project Management.

Face-to-Face Interview with a Registered Workplace Assessor

The face-to-face interview is a two-hour structured discussion between the candidate and a Workplace Assessor. The aims of which are to:

  • Provide an independent, qualified and objective assessment as to the competency level that the candidate is performing each performance criteria at.
  • Determine the likely availability or ease of creation of evidence to prove this competency to the standard required by the AIPM's RegPM process, Australian National Standards for nationally recognized qualifications or GAPPS Endorsed Global Project Manager Certifications
  • Determine detailed development needs going forward

This process also provides a number of extra benefits to both the organisation and the candidate that are not directly related to competency, including;

  • Education in regards to competency standards, what they are, what they actually mean, how they are used etc.
  • Education as to the wider scope of Project Management and its application in different industries.
  • Morale boosting. The interview process provides a non-threatening environment where for two hours the candidate is encouraged to talk as much as they like about themselves and their projects. Most candidates enjoy the opportunity to discuss their projects at length to the assessor who is engaged and interested in their project work.
